Five Thousand!

Mileage: 5117 km

Jack crosses the 5000km mark. Hurrah!
Jack not due for service. Double Hurrah!

Wonderfully the Spectra is serviceable every 10,000 km only. At the rate I drive that's very good news indeed. Baby Kancil was previously also serviced every 10K km, but that was due to financial constraints. Since Kancils are serviceable every 5K km you can imagine the condition Baby is in by the time she reached 100K km.

One more reason to love Jack. Service every 10K km. Love love love...

hehe... i think u got the concept a *bit* wrong. You are free to choose when u wanna service. More reliable cars can be serviced less frequently, but it is still recommended to perform regular services to make it even more reliable :D

about 10k 5k kancil spectra and what-not... irrespective of car, personally I would recommend that u do the services as follows:

1k, 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k.. and each subsequent 10k. This is primarily to ensure that the car is monitored regularly when it is new a pinpoint possible long-term problems. Engine oil changes are more necessary at these stages too to ensure all the 'hakisan' from enjin baru get cleared regularly.
an alternative is 1k, 5k, 10k and each subsequent 10k.

I believe you have coupons for so-and-so mileage. If those are spaced at 10k intervals, then I guess u can still follow the 10k intervals, but no harm doing them sooner.

just my 2 cents :)

hmmm...interesting concepts. Both true, but the best will be to get the oil changed every 5k cos oil is oil and our climate does not do it favours. It will breakdown aster and the oil will lose its oilyness!! Plus if u guys keep to the 5k interval your workshop will love u to bits cos they can sell more oil!! Just my 22 sen. Ta ta
